<p>A liberal arts education is one that combines both free thinking along with a focus in a specific area of study. The Eastern Connecticut State University curriculum is the right choice for me because it will prepare me to work in a multitude of fields, help me communicate and problem-solve more effectively, and provide me with a background for graduate-level studies to become more focused on my career path. Since the world is changing, a liberal arts education will help me adapt to changes in the field I choose to study and work.<br>
It is different to go to school now because you have so many different types of fields and options to go into and learn about. In previous generations, one would focus on just one field and work in it their entire life. Many times it was with the same company. People work much longer now and this education will give you many more choices if you want to change your studies and career path. We live in a global economy where jobs leave the United States and others come in. It is important to have a liberal arts education because if your company or field moved to a different country, you would have the choice to find a new field that fits you. Adaptability is an important skill in life.
A Catholic School education, which I came from, teaches self discipline and commitment which are positive aspects of learning. The curriculum is not as broad as a larger public school. That is why it is important for me to attend a liberal arts college. A liberal arts college will provide me with a wider choice of academic options and will help me learn to communicate and problem-solve more effectively because I will learn to think more freely. With this background, I will be able to be more focused in my graduate-level studies.<br>
Graduate-level studies will lead me to a better career path. A graduate-level degree is important because it proves that you spend more time on your studies than others do. It will also tell an employer that you are more serious about your career. Many people have a college education so having a masters degree will set you apart from the rest. Employers would value your education more than someone who has only a college degree. A liberal arts college will help one attain your goal of a masters degree. </p>
