Can anyone go into social sciences?

Curious question:

Do you (the community) think that anyone with any undergraduate training, can study at an advanced level or work in a social science such as finance, international politics, management, etc?

Or does it actually require undergraduate training in that specific field to do so?

I don’t consider those fields social sciences.

I mean, of course people can work in management who don’t have a specific degree in it, literally millions of people do it everyday.

I too think of social sciences a bit differently… but in regard of the studies you mentioned I do think most people can. No matter what it is your UG training focused on. Unless you’re talking about some specific stuff, in general you can work in any of these fields and learn most on the go. Of course it may be hard or challenging at first, but eventually you’ll get the hang of it. Good luck!

Finance and management are business/commerce, not social science…

I think politics and management depend on the individual (i.e. you don’t need a degree), but finance is more specialized and you probably do need some training/experience.
