<p>I searched a long time for something lighter weight before settling on the McKlein vertical (red). It is a little heavier than I’d like but it is also very durable, has it’s own raincoat and still looks brand new 9 months after I got it. I get compliments on it all the time. I think the weight is simply the handle mechanism and wheels which, if durable, are going to be heavy. My last rolling bag, which was provided by an employer, had issues with the handle bending because it was lightweight and cheap. I like the vertical bag because I have to ride a shuttle to and from my parking garage and it fits easily in the aisle. The horizontal bag people have a tough time getting down the aisle without whacking people with the bag. I did finally give up on a lighter weight requirement. </p>
