<p>I’m looking to scan a ton of negatives, and have heard good things about Epson Perfection. Does anyone have any success/horror stories about these scanners? Or have a favorite alternate brand?</p>

<p>Karen, let me bump your thread up - I’m interested in slide scanners, too. I’ve looked at Costco’s website - there are some reviews of slide scanners, but only for the models they currently have in stock.</p>
<p>Funny, I was just reading the Costco reviews for one scanner that is on sale now, and was utterly confused because the reviews were all over the map. Some people absolutely loved it, were saving all these ancient slides and negatives, and others gave it one star, saying the quality was awful, bad color, time consuming, etc. Who to trust? One reviewer said he was going to pay someone to put his slides/negs on DVDs and be done with it. Not sure how or where one gets that done, but that sounds like an option, although pricier certainly.</p>

Is there a way to scan the negatives and then convert them into photo format for storage? My H wants me to give the job to the pros, I want to give it to the underemployed relative and pay him!! He can handle it if we get the right scanner…</p>
<p>That’s what the scanners do - they convert negatives into digital photos and supposedly remove blemishes and scratches. I’m inclined to get one from Costco - they will take the scanner back if something does not work out. Costco photo department can also do the job for you, but they send it offsite. We are also thinking about digitizing H’s 16-mm homemade movies (yikes, that’s OLD!).</p>
<p>I bought one at Bed, Bath and Beyond and it works great for what I need. It’s easy to use but you will have to remove blemishes and adjust the colors. I paid $99 but now I see it’s on clearance.</p>

<p>There was a photography thread a month or two ago where we discussed scanners. I have a CANON flatbed scanner that I LOVE for photos, but I haven’t tried negatives or slides, yet.</p>
<p>I will try to find the thread - but it was something along the line of “what to do with old photographs”.</p>
<p>You may wish to consider Canon’s CanoScan LiDE 700F. It has 9600 x 9600 dpi and costs about $130. You can scan photos, negatives, and documents. The only downside is that it can scan only one negative at a time. If you are in a hurry, you will go crazy.</p>
