can anyone recommend a portable pet stain cleaner machine

With 3 cats at home and 2 that are attached to our kids I am anticipating some “issues” in the coming weeks due to separation anxiety, etc. 1 cat had some misbehavior last year when our son left but the cat came around. We might have a repeat situation with that cat, and now we will be adding our daughter’s cat to the mix and any potential issues with it. Anyway, I’ve started looking at small portable machines and was wondering if anyone has been using one they like. These are some of what I’ve seen on-line

  • Pawsitively Clean Yikes Compact Cleaner Machine
  • BISSELL SpotClean Professional Portable Carpet Cleaner, 3624
  • BISSELL SpotLifter 2X Portable Deep Carpet Cleaner, 1719
  • Bissell® Lift-Off® Deluxe Pet Deep Cleaner and this cleaning liquid?
  • Bissell Pawsitively Clean Ewww Enzyme-Powered Pet Stain & Odor Remover

Bissel’s Ewww is quite effective. It worked great without a machine.

I recently rented the Bissell Little Green machine from the local supermarket. It is a portable version of the Big Green Machine. I had several spots to remove that had been there for a long time, although I had cleaned them the best I could at the time they happened. Some of the stains were iced tea (carpeted formal dining room), some dog poop and some dog puke (tinted green from eating grass). Ok. That’s probably too much information. The bottom line is that none of them came out completely, probably because they had been there too long. I pre-treated with SpotShot and then used the Bissell All-Purpose carpet cleaner in the machine. Then I rinsed with just plain hot water. Some of them, I did a second time after it dried. I think it works best on fresh stains.

Two thoughts: 1) Judging by the water I emptied from the machine, carpet is just plain nasty and I have a lot of it. I always thought I liked it, but now I want to replace it all with wood or laminate. 2) The portable machine requires one to get down on the floor to clean the spots, squatting or sitting or somehow bent over, which made my back hurt. I think next time, if there is one, I will get the big machine.

I did not have time to add to my post… Here is how I used the Ewww:

  1. Discovered that the resident cat peed on the carpet when the immigrant cats moved in. Arrrgh!!
  2. Went to Petsmart and got a spray bottle of Ewww.
  3. Wiped the spots with a damp towel to pre-moisten, generously sprayed with Ewww to soak. Let it sit for as long as the bottle recommended.
  4. Blotted the spot with dry towel. Repeated with wet towel, then again wiped with dry to remove any liquid. Let the carpet air dry (sprinkled some natural citrus air freshener on the carpet to keep the curious cats away).

One cannot even see where the spot used to be - and I have light gray (Frozen Pond) carpets! My very sensitive nose cannot pick up any nasty smells when I try to smell the carpet. The white cat does not go sniffing around that area as she used to do. Ewww worked. Good stuff.

I also recommend SpotShot. It might work better on other types of stains.

I use the Bissel spotbot in my house. I had a new puppy to potty train who took almost a year, so it got a lot of use. I really liked it and found it immensely helpful, it did a good job. Just set it over the spot and turn it on. I never did any blotting or pre-treating or anything. I would scoop up debris with a paper towel first, but we were just dealing with pee. My machine is looking a little yucky now after a year, though, and I’m not sure how to clean it. The inside of the hose looks dirty. Maybe if we’d taken better care of it this wouldn’t have been an issue, but we weren’t very good about rinsing out the machine when we were done with it since it got used so often. We used it once or twice a day for a long time so I often just left it in the corner and only rinsed it out when the tank got full.

thank you

so far so good, we had only one incident and it was on my laundry waiting for the wash that I keep next to my bed, so two cycles in the machine and they were good as new. got them new food bowls and redid the entire corner of the basement where we keep the litter and washed the floors and redid the setup with new cardboard/plastic etc and upgraded the boxes. the night lite is still going strong. also making an effort to reach out for more petting. we face-timed with our daughter and her cat, that was weird

I’ve never used a machine but we’ve great luck over the years with Simple Green. Separate formulas for cats & dogs.

Teach the cats to use the bathroom like people do…you shouldn’t have to be cleaning up their ‘stuff’.

Old cats with diabetes don’t always work that way.

My Sis-IL used “Nature’s Miracle” on fresh “accidents” of her dogs. I’m not sure how much it helped, as my sense of smell is impaired, but have heard many recommend it (it is supposed to have an enzymatic chemical reaction).

We use the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner, an excellent machine IMO.

Just buy a cheap bottle of hydrogen peroxide at your local pharmacy, pour a little on, then rub off with a damp cloth. That worked for my pet stains on carpet.
