Thank you for reviewing this and your opinions.

I think you’re a match. You have almost identical stats as I did when I applied to UCLA as a freshman.

I am not a URM, had a 4.5 UC GPA, 1810 SAT score, great ECs, was low income, and was ranked #1 in my class.

It’s cool know that it’s possible, thank you. What exactly is a URM?

under represented minority… you can get in LOL lucky

URM refers to people of ethnic groups such as Mexicans, Blacks, Native Americans, etc. It doesn’t include Caucasians, Asians, etc. Usually URM’s get a “boost” or “bonus points” in their application.

i.e. A Mexican American applicant will likely be accepted over an Asian American applicant if their stats are identical and “desirable” by UCLA standards.

oh, I knew about minority status, but i just didn’t recognize what “URM” was.

UCs do not practice affirmative action. Your selection will depend on how well you did in the context of your background and school. Being low income can help as well as the self-motivation factor.

I’m just curious, how many AP’s did you take soph/junior year? The GPA UC’s looks at only gives weight to AP’s and Honors PreCalculus, not school based honors.

oh sorry for the super late reply Lexapro,
well my highschool doesn’t offer ap courses to freshmen and sophomores. All of the courses that I took were uc approved as far as credit went.
sophomore year: 2 honors math courses, english 2 honors, world history honors, and biology honors.
Junior year: ap english lang, apush, chem honors
yeah, the drags of going to a private school, but in all honesty, best decision ever.

Hmmn… High match/Low reach for the great GPA but not so stellar SAT score.

I just received a supplement
