I have a friend who had his credit card stolen sometime in December… he had already finished his UC apps, paid for them, whatnot. Unfortunately, due to my own personal experience, the UC system apparently takes forever to accept payment – and when he got his credit card stolen he naturally cancelled the account.

And now, from what I know, the UCs have contacted him saying that the payment for his applications hasn’t gone through, and that there is no way to make up for it.

Basically, he won’t be able to get into any UC.

Is there anything he can do?!

that situation could, in my mind, be sorted out that is an extreme circumstance

Have him get a statement from the credit card company indicating the mishap and then send it to the UCs. I can’t believe the UCs will just say no b/c of a mishap like that.

if he cancelled the account and there were pendng charges, the credit card company should have called him and asked of those charges were valid becuase most likely they issued him a new card

what he SHOULD have done was look at his statements, seen that the UC charges hadn’t gone through and notified the credit card company to accept those charges

but if friend didn’t do anything and let it sit, he now has to pay ASAP, with whatever he can

I would think the UC’s would adjust if they have proof he cancelled card in december, but if he made no other arrangements to pay, he may have to grovel
