Can AP scores hurt admission chances?

Hello, my question is pretty general can low AP scores hurt the chance of admission into schools like Cornell and Rice?

By low I mean like a 3.

Thank you.

It depends. If you had a high grade in the class, colleges may assume your teacher wasn’t very good and will let the 3 go by. Also, you can opt not to reveal an AP exam score when applying to college if it’s below your standards.

Does CB’s new Score Choice apply to AP exams as well?

For example, if you score a 2 on AP Lang and a 5 on AP USH and AP Stat, could you only choose to send the two 5s and hide the 2?

AP exams always had score choice, just $10 per score per college to hide. I don’t think it will hurt your admissions chances much. Don’t people send their AP score reports after acceptance?

You can hide them. At least you didn’t get a 2! : )

If you’re going to somewhere like Cornell and Rice, then you should probably not get a 2 on an AP exam. Just sayin’…

Then again, APs are self-reported, so the college need never know until AFTER you’re admitted.

these days i think ap’s are more important than sat II’s.
