Can California CC student transfer to out-of-state univ?

Hello, I’m a CC student in California, and I’m planning to transfer to out of state universities such as University of Michigan, New York University, University of Chicago, Brown University …etc.
But, by researching some information from internet, it seems like it’s almost impossible to transfer to those universities? is it true?

i’m majoring in Anthropology, and my current gpa is 3.77 – (but it seems like I can get all A’s before applying… then my gpa will be 3.84~3.85)

Do you see any possibilities that I can get in to those universities? (considering that I’m in Anthro major which is not really competitive)

I don’t see why not. For in state you get a little priority which can help you.

It is not impossible, but the chances are lower for any transfer students than first year applicants.

For example, U of Chicago accepted 22 transfer students in 2012, number may vary by each year, but it is low regardless.
