Can eFAN be completely different from ePAL?

I'm an entering freshman, and here's how my ePAL looks like

Estimated Cal Grant: $10,302
Estimated Pell Grant : $5,500
UCLA Scholarship Recognition Award: $4,700

Work Study: $2,200
Loans: $7,000

My WebGrants account says I'm getting Cal Grant B ($1,551) instead of Cal Grant A, but the ePAL shows that I'm getting Cal Grant A, looking at the amount. I emailed the financial aid office about this two days ago and haven't heard back yet, but was anyone else in the similar situation? If eFAN changes my Cal Grant from A to B, does that mean I have to pay the extra $8,500~9,000?

I applied for some outside scholarships. If I do get some of them, do they go towards meeting the net cost ($9,200 loans/work study) or will they reduce the amount of Gift Aid?

i was wondering the same thing, im in the same boat as you…i heard that outside scholarships will lower financial aid but ionno by how much

if you get outside scholarships that dont need to go to the school dont tell them, just cash it

I’m pretty sure they lower loans first, then work study, and then grants.

Thanks mr2kool09 and kwwboarder

Bump: any idea on the Cal Grant situation though?

no, if you get a scholarship, it first cuts into work-study, then subsidized loan, then unsubsidized loan, then grant aids.

You will have all your tuition covered op, so don’t worry about it. Either UCLA will cover it or calgrant will. I’m sure you’re eligible to the blue and gold plan. =)

Also, usually, your EFAN is not too different than your EPAL. You do have to update when you receive scholarships, and that will definitely change stuff around. Don’t worry about this stuff too much by the way, wait until you get your EFAN…

Thanks Sopheee :)
