Can good ACT score offset bad SAT score?

Hi ppl. Just like newyorkcityx (and countless others), I took the SAT in october and got a score of 1250… even though I got 1400+ on practice tests and even got 1540 on the actual AAT (indian equiv. to SAT). I can’t take the SAT again, but I can take ACT assessment.

I got a score of 31 (27/33/38/34) on the ACT practice test.

Do you guys think a score of 31-32 will offset my 600v 650m score?

How acceptable is it for HYP/MIT/Duke?

SAT IIs are okay.

SAT is the standard. many schools don’t put much weight into the ACT. but apply and see what happens. plz let us know

Princeton does not take the ACT unless it is the test required at other schools to which you have applied (not likely since almost schools accept either test). The others will consider for admission that score they believe is higher. The “don’t put much weight into the ACT” is not something that exists today. In fact, Duke and Yale will take the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT II’s.

I suppose that 38 is supposed to be a 28.

a 31 or 32 would definitely be considered better than a 1250 and the only school I’ve heard of not taking ACT is Princeton

Harvard: 31-34
Yale: 30-34
MIT: 30-34
Duke: 29-34

As you can see, a 31 would be a bit on the lower side while a 32 would put you pretty much in the middle for most of those colleges.
