can i apply to both bright futures and hispanic scholarship?

can i apply to both bright futures and hispanic scholarship? if so, can i get both or just one?

We need more info…

Are you asking about National Hispanic scholarship?

If so, which school is offering the NH scholarship that interests you? What does the school offer? free tuition? more?

oh it depends on the school, well im in florida and maybe i plan on going to fiu but i don’t know if they have the national hispanic scholarship, i thought they all did. and i don’t know what they offer, i am thinking about their business program. im confused with all the scholarships, so i dont know if i could apply to both bright futures and national hispanic scholarship.

Are you talking about the National Hispanic Recognition Program? If so, you are first recognized by the program (based on PSAT scores, gpa and Hispanic heritage) and then there are some schools that have merit scholarships for NHRP scholars that you can apply for.

If it is a FL school with both BF and NHRP scholarships, call the school and ask them how they deal with them.

You don’t really “apply” for the National Hispanic program. Your junior PSAT score will determine whether you qualify.

What was your PSAT score?

Not all schools have National Hispanic scholarships. Of those that do, they offer different amounts.

FIU only offers $5k per year.

Some Out of state schools offer huge scholarships for National Hispanic scholarships. For instance, Auburn offers full tuition, housing, and other benefits for NH Scholars.

my counselor told me to identify myself as hispanic because it would give me more scholarships, what scholarships is she talking about? is it just the national hispanic one?

You were on the Hispanic Students forum earlier, did you take a look at the threads there? The sticky Resource thread is the place to start, it has information about scholarships including, but not limited to NHRP. If you are interested in discussing questions regarding college admissios and scholarships for Hispanic students, I highly recommend that you read and post there as there are several very experienced members that are active on the Hispanic Students forum.

What did you get on your PSAT.

some colleges might have additional scholarships for Hispanic students in addition to National Hispanic. I don’t know if there are many since I would think that Florida has many, many citizens with Hispanic heritage, but maybe there are.

Either way, if you qualify for both Bright Futures and a NH scholarship, I would think that you’d get both scholarships because the monies come from different sources, but check with each college for their own rules.
