Can I attach another recommendation as a supplement?

Since the invited teacher recommendations have a limit of 3 and this recommendation isn’t from a teacher, would it be appropriate to attach it as a supplement on the Common App?

And if it’s okay, does this mean there is no waiver to decline to see the rec since I’d have to attach it myself?

yeah i had 5 or 6 recs(cc '15)

the admissions officers feel that if you really want/need to submit an extra rec, you should. however, too many recs can be a bad thing. if you are going to add extra recs, make sure these writers say something DIFFERENT, but still positive about you.

Ya just make sure that it shows a different part of you- so its not a complete waste of time by the admissions staff reading them all

Yes, but who is the rec from?

agree with iwantcollege, and I think I read somewhere that if you submit too many recs, it shows you’re insecure about the main recs (ones from your teachers and counselor), since they should be able to provide the essential information about you needed. If you want to get one from say a volunteer coordinator I would say its unnecessary, just write in your resume what you did and get your counselor to say a few good things about what you did/your impact with the program

pwoods- it’s from a superintendent

iwantcollege09, collegeftw- oh I didn’t know that…but I’m only submitting 2 teacher recs, counselor rec, and this one. I didn’t want to invite him to the remaining teacher rec because he’s not exactly a teacher and the forms wouldn’t apply to him.
