can I be denied admission???

I did not do well in h.s. my father died, leaving me without structure or discipline. I later earned my g.e.d. with really high scores. I recently aced the a.c.t. the school I want requires an 18 for freshmen, I got a 23. I had been enrolled in 2 previous colleges, but dropped out of both before 3 months. This new school denied me, they said, because of low g.e.d. scores, and low g.p.a. at the other colleges, and low g.p.a. in h.s. but when I first applied, I was told by having taken the g.e.d. my h.s. performance would not even be considered… I was also told, that if I had attended under 30 hours at these other colleges, I would not n3ed to submit those transcripts… Weeks later, I was asked to submit them… Please help. Is this even legal??? I finally have my life in order, and desperately want to get an education…

Unless it is an open enrollment college, yes they get to pick who they admit. I’m going to guess that they took a pass on due to two previous college transcripts. If you have a contact there, you might ask what steps to take to persue enrollment. It is possible that showing you can successfully complete a semester or year at a CC would be favorable, for example.
