Can I be removed for not meeting pre-reqs?

So I was able to get into my Calculus I class without doing my Pre Calculus or passing the assessment test. It’s weird though, because when I tried with another Calculus I class, I was unable to get in. What I’m wondering, is will my school figure out this mistake and remove me from this class? Or can they not do that? Any help is appreciated as I wanna know if I need to waste my time taking Pre Calculus if I can just get the Calc I out of the way. Thanks.

At some schools it is a violation of the honor code to enroll in a course for which you do not have the pre- and/or co-requisites. Sometimes, they check right after the last add date–when they drop you, you can’t add another class. More importantly, why would you take Calculus I when the math department is telling you that you aren’t ready to take Calculus I?

And, at other schools like mine, you will be allowed to take the class at your own discretion–whether you gained the info necessary to succeed in the class is your responsibility.

The point here is that you need to check with your school. This question is most appropriate for a course adviser, I think.
