Can I declare two majors at the same time to the same UC?

Would it be possible to declare both EECS / CS at the same time?
EECS, commonly known as Computer Engineering, it focuses on the Computer & the making of computer.
CS, commonly known as Computer Science, it focuses on the computation & the application of computation.

However, I am interested in both. The Computer Engineering and Computer Science.
The ultimate goal lies on the Graduate course, where I would find group of friends during 2 years at Berkeley
to do some wild and weird stuffs like building mechanical arm for amputees.

Both majors would help me to do that.
EECS- would help me tp make ASICs and small computers for the mechanical arm.
CS-would help me to make optimized programs to run those ASICs and those small computers.
Either one sounds great.

That’s my personal statement, really, to make robotic/mechanical arms and legs for the disabled people.

So… does anyone know if I can declare two majors at the same time to the same UC?
:C

Thank you for reading my long post.

You can only choose one major when you apply. If you were to have a double major you choose it after you get in. You usually cannot double major in the same general subject.

Don’t double major.

If you want to work with robots, the choice is usually ME or EE. You will find that CS do not do much with hardware at all. If you do CS you’re going to have to teach yourself about robotics and electronics, unless you want to do pure AI, but it sounds like EE or Comp.E would be a better fit for you.

At Berkeley, there is no B.S. for CS. EE and CS are combined. EECS at Berkeley is supposedly the greatest thing in the world. The B.A. in CS is a liberal arts program. It’s not going to add anything to the EECS. You will take the same major classes in EECS as you would in CS, and more science and engineering classes. In the CS program, you will take more GE.

Thank you !

Thank you both! Please have a blessed week!
