Can I discuss about a significant event in my life when it asks sig moment/dilemma?

Hi! I was just wondering if I would be allowed to discuss about a significant event in my life- it’s about my first trip to Somalia and how i learned a lot about myself and the world around me (kind of like a bunch of epiphanies but nothing cliche- like my roots, kindness). I’m worried that I could get in trouble for not following what the prompt asks me.

I’m writing the prompt for Seton Hall university and the exact prompt is this: Describe a significant moment, achievement or dilemmayou have faced and its impact on your spiritual, personal or ethical development.

You are smart to consider the question. A lot of essays I have read seem to skirt the question and answer what the writer feels like. I would say the answer is based on how you write the essay: Was there a significant moment while in Somalia? Was the trip an achievement of sorts (saved up or went through something to make the trip happen)? Did the trip cause any dilemna? I think if your essay is along the lines of “I learned so much on my trip to Somalia…” then you are not answering the question. I think if your essay is along the lines of “I stood loooking out over the fields and suddenly I realized…” you have a shot. Remember; in your essay you can start with a significant moment and then do the back story of how you got to that point and the front story of what has happened since (S P or E development).
Good luck.

Thank you sooo much Imontoya for answering my question! I’m going to try doing that with my essay now :)
