I want to study overseas doing Physics and Astronomy and get a BSc degree. However, I want to come back to do grad school in the United States for a MASc/MEng. Will this make me a less competitive candidate, and will I still be able to become a certified engineer?

Thank you!

You can definitely go from an international BS in Physics to a US masters in most engineering disciplines. You will still be competitive, but grad admissions are so individual it is hard to say whether or not it would be a significant influence.

As to the “certified engineer” comment, it should not be a problem. Most fields of engineering do not require any particular certification - mostly it is the civil/structural fields, but some states require certification if you want to operate as a consultant. The most common certification is the FE/PE exam series, which I believe already make allowances for international graduates coming to work in the US.
