Can I do any better?

Guys, my SAT test is due on October 3 and when I took test today my score was 1740. Will I be able to score 2000+ by working this whole month?

Perhaps. Perhaps not. Depends how hard you work, and how good you felt during the first time you took the test. If you took the test the first time and knew while you were taking it it was bad, then maybe you can solve that. If you felt good while taking the test, then I doubt it.

Thank you for your response. I felt terrible after I looked at my score?? It was like what am I going to do with these scores?? Now, I want to put on full effort to raise my scores to 2000+. Will I be able to do that in a month period?

That isn’t what I meant. I meant how you felt while you were taking the test itself. Obviously, (or at least in my opinion), you’re not going to feel good after seeing that score.

I did that in a hurry. I got only 610 on maths section due to the silly errors and I know that I can do better than that. I was trying to rush because I was trying to finish everything before the time is up. As a whole, I took the test thinking it was my real exam and I should be finishing all the questions on time.

Hmmmm, then I am not entirely sure that you can reach that lofty goal. I think you can certainly improve a bit, but you’re going to need luck as well as a lot of work.

It is statistically unlikely, but it is possible. You should be building your college application list based on existing statistics, not on those you hope for. You are a senior, now, and need to be realistic about your prospects. If you are looking at schools where you would not have a chance with less than a 2000, then you are looking at schools that would be reaches for you even if you achieved that unlikely goal. You can always add an additional reach if your scores skyrocket, but it will be harder to begin identifying plausible matches and safeties six weeks from now if you do not. If you are still looking at ultra-competitive schools, remember that most of their successful applicants will not be students who immersed themselves in test prep during the fall of senior year. The most attractive candidates are polishing up essays, maintaining excellent grades in highly-rigorous courses, and participating in extracurricular and community activities at a high level. I strongly recommend looking at some test-optional colleges, as well as one where your actual scores fall comfortably within range.

I went from 1500 to 2030 but I had a SAT prep course. Its going to be hard to raise 300-400 points unless you’re really driven

Thank you woogzmama for your suggestions. Though my grades are poor I wanna get good scholarship through my SAT scores and my other applications such as my extra curricular activities and essay. I have a good records of sports during my high school. Will that support for my applications?
