Can I do this?

Can I submit my application now, send my October scores in when I get them but then send November scores in again if I’m not happy with my october scores? Will they only look at my October scores and ignore my November scores?

It is my understanding that you can resubmit test scores and McGill will only consider the best scores ( they will not choose some from October and some from November however). You can submit the application now–but McGill has always in the past wanted first semester grades before making any offers.

So, if I understand correctly, Mcgill will only review my application when they receive my 1st semster grades even if I apply right now? I receive them at the end of january, so is it safe to assume that I can take the November test and send in my scores before they even look through the rest of my stuff?

They will only make a decision after first semester grades? What if those grades come out after their deadline?

I recommend you call the admissions office to find out since the “rolling admissions” is a new process. ( The admissions office does much better responding telephone calls than e-mail.) In the past, if your school had not supplied the first semester grades of senior year, Minerva would have your application marked as needing more info.
Of course, acceptances were not announced until mid-March so it wasn’t really an issue, unless your high school was really dysfunctional. You can submit new info after the application deadline as long as the application is in on time.

Thanks mcgildad…I guess the only way to find out is to call them and make sure.

But 2 last questions…answer them to the best of your ability.

Do you think it’s wise to send in my first mp grades(circa november 3rd) or should I just wait till I get my semester grades? Also, do I have to send in October test scores or can I just wait till my November scores come back to send them in.

Here is my free advice (that may be what it is worth): I assume mp grades are mid-term grades? You can send them in, but I dont think they mean much. However, you should ask admissions. My d., who is a U1 this year, did not send in mid-term grades and I dont believe they were on the transcript.

Regarding the SAT, you dont have to send any SAT scores to any school, but when you do send them the college board will send the results of every SAT you have taken, so McGill will get them anyway. McGill will take the best set of scores into consideration for admissions and ignore the others (unless there is something glaringly wrong). Good luck.

Basically my school year is divided into 4 quarters or marking periods(mp’s). And 2 marking periods along with our Mid-year examinations make up our semester grades.

So yeah, I guess 1 mp of grades won’t mean much.

Thanks a lot for the help.

I guess my question relates to this, which is that I’m getting my first semester grades after the deadline for transcripts, so I plan on sending in my first quarter grades (which come in next week) and then adding a note that I’ll send more grades as they come.

Is this the right thing to do?
