Can I get a recommendation letter from a club adviser?

I’m really involved in a business club at my school-- having made school history by winning the first ever state title for my school and having won several individual regional and state level awards, as well as qualifying for nationals. I was also the youngest officer on the club officer team in my sophomore year (I was the only underclassman). This club adviser has known me for all four years of high school and was my freshman year business elective teacher, where I excelled in his class through creative presentations and high test scores. Moreover, I am interested in going into finance which ties in with this business club.

Although he’s not a teacher in a core academic subject, can I get a recommendation from him? I know he will write a really good one, judging from the super long note he wrote in my yearbook.

I am thinking of applying to Ivy League schools, and I don’t know if they allow recommendations from non-core teachers.

You should check the requirements of each school but many schools do allow a supplemental recommendation from a person who knows you outside of the classroom.

I would say go for it. I know some of the Ivy schools require at least 1 recommendation letter from an actual teacher but it doesn’t hurt to get one from a more personal experience. Even if you don’t end up using it, it’s still nice to have one on hand.
