Can I get financial aid for this???

I really would like to go to Virginia Tech, and my family makes an okay amount of money (Not rich, but not dirt poor either). However, I have a twin sister thats going to a separate college than me. So my family will be having to pay a lot of money for both of us. Do you think I can recieve financial aid for this? Thanks!

Find VT’s net price calculator, plug in all your information, and see what it spits out.

On average, VT meets about 70% of determined need. The fact that you have a college-age sibling should be a factor in their calculation.

It depends on the college. When you and your twin are in college at the same time, your family contribution per FAFSA will be split between you. BUT that does not necessarily mean you will get a LOT more aid.VT does not meet full need.

I would suggest you run the net price calculators for all of the schools you wish to apply to. This will give you a good estimate of how much your family will be expected to pay.

Financial aid is determined by a family’s financial need and the policies of the college. Whether or not you would receive is determined by the information you provide on the FAFSA and any other required financial aid applications. The government determines if you’re eligible for federal or state aid, the school determines whether you’re eligible for institutional aid. The fact that you have a sister in college at the same time would factor into those determinations.

When OP filed that FAFSA (VT is a FAFSA only school), s/he probably received a federal EFC that has taken into consideration that s/he will also have a sibling in college.

You’re OOS for vt so you probably won’t get great needbased aid.
