Can I get in as an Undergrad without taking AP Calc AB?

I was planning my classes with my counselor and I was confused whether to take AP Calc AB senior year or not. Math is not really my subject, and I didn’t do that great in Algebra 2H sophomore year (this year)

My senior schedule as we planned looks like
AP English 4
AP Biology
AP Statistics
AP American Gov/Econ Honors

I don’t know if I should take calc though and don’t really want to if it’s not required. I mean, if it was necessary I could hire a full time tutor but I’m not looking forward to that haha

thanks(:

What are you majoring in?

Did you take pre calc? It’s fairly hard to take calc without learning trig first.

sure my friend got in when she was taking advanced pre calc as a senior. but it probably depends on what you want to major in

Math is extremely important for engineering. But for a non math-based major, with all those other AP classes you should be fine.

I want to be a Business major or something along those lines
I’m taking AP English 3, AP Phych, AP Spanish, AP U.S. History, AP Bio/PhysioH, and regular precalc next (junior) year

hmmm idk i mean its always good to take ap calc no matter what you do?
you do deal with math in business although im not sure to what extent.
my advice: just take it. You’ve come this far already. What’s ONE MORE year?

In any major worth spending money on you need math. If you don’t like math, learn to love it. Calculus AB is fun as hell, I’m taking it this year. It’s not that difficult either; has it’s times but overall it’s fun.

Arch Dept. told me they dont require math past pre-calc.

I took Calc AB anyway, though.

I would highly suggest taking AB Calc this year. While I dont love it, i can already see how it will be extremely helpful for me next year.

IF you’re going to be a business major, I’d definitely take AP Calc AB. You’re going to have to take it, either way, so I’d just get it over with in high school.
