Can I get in Regular Decision??

Connecticut HS Senior.

if I apply RD will I get in?

I have legacy at Duke (mom, grandpa and uncle)
SAT: 1390 (700 math, 690 CR, 730 W)- retaking in oct
ACT: 31
SAT 2- chem/math 2- 680 (i know both low)

APs: Chem, Micro/Macro econ, enviro, calc AB and AP span lang.

main ECs: Varsity baseball (2 yrs)/ varsity Soccer (3 yrs)
Umpire coordinator for Little League- paid job to organize/schedule umpires for the local league
Volunteer medical response technician- ride on ambulance- 100+ hours
working on science project on primate intelligence- entering siemens/intel

chances anyone?

also weighted academic gpa 3.85/4.00- top 20% of very competitive HS

bump bump bump. please help!

i suggest retaking the ACT, as an improvement on that will make the low SAT II scores irrelevant. regardless, you probably know that your SAT I’s are a bit on the low side as well, so best of luck in raising them in october. as far as class rank/GPA, i can’t say much since i don’t know if they care about your “competitive high school” and i don’t know what school it is anyway. anyways, good luck!

like what the last poster said, your scores for both standardized tests are pretty balanced, but if you can cram really hard and raise your ACT to a 34/35+ you won’t have to submit your (relatively) low SAT scores. In my opinion, I think that’s your best bet, or perhaps retaking the SATs and seeing what you get.

if u win…anything…for siemens/intel u’ll be in so work hard on that =)
besides that, u can retake to bump up those standardized tests but don’t fret too much about it…i say you have a good shot already

You’re a legacy.
Duke is fairly easy on legacies. 1390 is below average for Duke but it is above Duke’s 25th percentile.
There are legacies here who have done much worse on the SAT than you AND got in RD.
I think you are going to get in- especially if your high school is very competitive which counters class rank somewhat.

okay thanks a lot guys. anyone else?
