My gpa is 3.2. My ACT score is a 27, being a 28 superscored. I have 200 volunteering hours, including volunteering at hospitals and city runs and stuff like that. I was in a club that participated in an international synthetic biology competition. I did study buddy programs for a year. I have a 2 letters of rec from 2 of my teachers. I do not have one from my counselor. I am young for my grade (class of 2014), and will graduate at 16 years old. My older sister went to UC Irvine and already graduated, so that could help with my admission there. This is a list of colleges im applying to:

University of Oregon
UC’s
UAB
Birmingham-Southern
Samford
Alabama University
NYU
Indiana University Bloomington
SDSU

Frankly your GPA severely limits you. As a rising senior here’s my advice: stop all ECs, volunteering, outside activities. You’ve been mislead.

Not a single realistic school on your list will care about any of them.

Then bear down and get the best 1st semester GPA possible while seeing if you can ready yourself for a final ACT attempt. You should also have a blunt discussion w/your guid counselor to expand your list with more reasonable target schools.

Do you recommend taking the ACT again and going for a higher score? I have took it multiple times and I’m tired of doing it. Do you think I can get in anywhere on the list with my current ACT score? If you honestly think I can’t get in anywhere on the list, I’ll start studying for the ACT and take it in September

That’s a discussion best had with your Guid counselor. You can also compare your stats with admitted students at those schools by googling the “Common Data Sets” of each of them. Section C of each CDS will tell you the avg GPA/stats of admitted students. See if you fall in any of the safe ranges.

But prepping for the ACT this summer is something proactive you can do. The higher your ACT, the more it can offset your GPA. Good luck to you
