Can I get into a good college with 4 C's on my high school transcript?

I always struggled with math and science due to their interrelation and as a result got a c and c- in two honor courses and two c+'s in college prep courses. My uw gpa is 3.08 and my weighted gpa is 4.4. I have taken 11 honors courses and 2 ap courses. i did well in my ap courses and had an upward trend from my sophomore year to junior year. My sat score is 2010. Please help. I do not expect to go to a ivy league school but I expect a good state school or top 70 school.

btw i live in nj and go to a competive high school in west windsor. Rutgers New Brunswick is my target school.

Well it is important to be well rounded in all subjects. Something you need to work on. Schools to consider:

-Syracuse
-Southern Methodist
-University of Iowa
-Indiana U
-Baylor

New Brunswick, don’t worry, if you’re in Jersey like everyone gets in.

Look at Drexel too since they’re growing pretty fast.

I hope so for Rutgers. And yea im applying to Drexel and Syracuse. I definately will try to improve senior year in math and science.

Anyone else can please help?

You should be fine getting into Drexel- my school had quite a few who had worse GPAs/SAT scores than you and got in. You’ll probably be fine with Rutgers, and also more or less fine with Syracuse.

I hope so.

Rutgers will accept pretty much anyone with a 1900+ and a semi-tough schedule. I know people who were accepted with much worse stats. Not because Rutgers isn’t competitive, but because they have so many available spots, it’s easy to grab one.

Yeah true but New Brunswick is getting tougher.

Anyone else can please help.

Rutgers NB isn’t getting tougher fast enough so that your chances are slim. Chill, you’ll be fine.

How much trouble are you having with math and science? Have you been screened for dyscalculia? If you do have that, and get it on your record, and then apply to college for a major that is not math/science heavy, it could make all the difference.

I pulled up the Naviance scattergram for my D’s NJ HS, and your grades/scores look safe for Rutgers NB. Still, you should pick at least one less selective school to apply to as a safety.

what is dyscalculia? i definately dont have that. dont know if the poster was joking or not but thanks for others help. Any further help is appreciated.

If you can’t take five minutes to look up dyscalculia in Wikipedia and read up on it, how can you be certain that your math issues aren’t due to it? In very simple terms, dyscalculia is like dyslexia for math. It isn’t that the person can’t do math, it is just that it takes them much longer than average, and that have more difficulty with keeping all of the steps straight. If someone like this is hell-bent on becoming an engineer, they shouldn’t be discouraged from pursuing that career, but they need to know that it will be a lot more work for them than it would be for a typical math-talented engineering student.

^ If he scores a 2010 on his SAT then I highly doubt that he struggled so much with the Math section that he really could have dyscalculia.

You’ll probably get in, but make sure to explain those grades on your application.

^ He doesn’t even need to. Upward trend, in-state Rutgers, 2010 SAT. No sweat for him.

Thanks for the help guys. I hope I can get into Rutgers as it is a good school and my number one option.
