<p>Its a team where there are actual electives for. you learn about forensics and then you go for a competition against other schools in which you have to use your knowledge of forensics to complete. for example, last year one of the assignments was they gave you a fake body and you had to put back its organs and stuff (fake). another was to solve a fingerprinting case,etc</p>

<p>One it’s not racist. He is taking a guess based on your EC’s. I would guess you were white too from looking at them. Also he didn’t tell you to buy hooks or anything. He’s just saying that you have no obvious ones at the current moment. You are asking for help at a time that doesn’t tell a college what kind of student you are. Come back in a year and then you can get actual help. The only thing anybody can say is keep it up on the track you are on and keep trying to get your GPA closer to a 4.0.</p>

<p>Second, do you know what hooks are? They are being a minority, first generation college student, low-income, legacy, recruited athlete, having very high connections, winning national or international competitions, or having a very unique and extraordinary talent. The only ones you can actually achieve are recruited athlete or winning competitions, but that is not easy to come by.</p>
<p>Kill your junior year. I had probably a 3.6 after sophomore year because of a ****ty freshman year and a B- sophomore year, but junior year I buckled down and got all A’s and A+'s. My GPA rose to like a 3.8 but for what the schools looked at (aka for me they didn’t look at freshman year and I would think overlooked the outlier sophomore year) it was essentially a 4.0. I got into Stanford. Just work your ass of junior year, take as many APs as you can, do everything, you’ll be on track.</p>

My daughter was encouraged by a deplorable uncle to apply to Yale, with promises of “lots of help” getting in, he is a graduate of Yale and is very active in the Yale Community. My daughter is second in her class, has high 1900’s on SAT’s, a 31 on ACT’s, captain of the ski team in Vail Colorado, and has qualified for the State Championships all four years. She is passionate about Archeology and wants to major in that field in College, she has gone on two, month long digs in Spain and Colorado. She is president of her high schools branch of the National Honors society, she won the Harvard book award, you get the picture. In addition to all these qualifications Yale is a family legacy, my father (daughter’s grandfather), my grand father, uncles, and cousin have all gone to Yale. Oh and she is an epileptic. She was rejected. What do you think her chances of getting into Tuft’s are? Am I asking the corect question in the correct area?</p>
<p>This is why you should be a Junior before posting a chance thread. You can’t know anything or give anybody any sort of chance because the junior year is what matters the most. And yes the Hebrew thing is what made me realize he is white. Also I don’t see how my post showed any hint that I didn’t know what a hook is but whatever. Nothing in his post shows that he has a “real” hook. Also as I think Ellene was alluding to, Ivies are a crabshoot and while Colombia isn’t like the big three, it still get plenty of applicants that have the quality’s but had an off day.</p>

but seriously, it’s not physically possible for a soph to get that many leadership…maybe i’m a little skeptical, but in my school the most leadership a person’s got is about maybe 3 presidencies</p>
