I am currently in 9th grade and it’s been only 2 and a half months of my high school.
I have failed 2 classes already : (

<p>I was wondering if I still have a chance to go into an IVY League College . And please be honest with the answers.</p>
<p>probably not, but you never know, sickness and life problems could provide reasoning for failure, but failing two classes is a pretty tough thing to make up for.</p>
<p>How precisely do they look at freshman’s year? and what if I improve over the next three years?</p>

<p>Princeton recalculates GPA ignoring 9th grade years. Everyone else will reject you unless you have a very good reason for having an F. If you were unable to attend school for a month or something, then that would be a good reason as long as it’s a valid excuse.</p>
<p>Well, what can anyone say to you that will make a difference? If everyone says no will you just give up completely? All you can do that makes any sense is to have a completely great performance from here on out and do well on your standardized tests in a couple of years. The real problem is that you will have trouble getting into AP classes if you don’t get it together very quickly, and without the AP’s you will be at a further disadvantage.</p>
<p>What I really find disturbing is that this is all framed around getting into the Ivies. Forget that as a motive, there are tons of great schools out there and you are too young to have a firm idea as to what direction to go yet. A better motive, I think, is to make sure you have as many options as possible when the time comes, possibly including the Ivies. The only way to do that is to do your very best and make the grades. You might end up finding that you want to go in a totally different direction.</p>
<p>I’m not trying to be mean or anything but… if you’re failing two classes in 9th grade, when you get to more difficult classes like AP calc or AP physics…you will suffer immensely. And honestly, ivies don’t look for anything short of perfection. Don’t be so dead on into getting into an ivy league because unless you have a 4.0 gpa unweighted/4.5 weighted and 2200 SAT/32 ACT minimum, you’re a reach. And think about other options, because not getting into an ivy is definitely not the end of the world. there are other quality schools like UCLA, Cal, Occidental, and others.</p>
<p>When I was in the beginning of my junior year I thought I could get in with a 4.1 and 30 ACT…was I wrong. But like I said, i’m applying to UCLA. =)</p>
