Can I get into any Ivy or a good college?

I’m currently a junior

Ethnicty: Black/African American
Rank: 39/556 (By the end of senior year would have taken a total of 11 AP classes)
UW Gpa: 3.88/4.00
Weighted GPA: 5.56/6.00
SAT: 1990 (CR: 630 , M: 670, WR: 690)
Extracurriculars: NJROTC (team qualified for state), altar server at my church, Vice President of Fellowship of Christian Student club, Spanish National Honor Society, Debate member

SAT is much too low for the ivies and depending on what you define as a good school it could be too low for that too. If you can get your score up then you’ll be competitive but as of right now it’s too low for ivies and if by good you mean top 20 schools then it’s low for those schools as well. Best of luck!

There are hundreds of great schools and at least 50 very competitive ones. Why the focus on the Ivys?

You have a chance if you put a lot of time into your application, essays, letters of recommendation, etc. However, get your SAT up… a 1990 is kind of low for top-tier schools, especially the Ivies.

Also, the college you go to doesn’t define you. There is no such thing as an objectively “good college” … there are Harvard graduates out there who are less successful than some community college graduates. This may be an extreme example, but it depends more on what you do at college than than on where you go. Just my piece of advice. Good luck!

Your GPA and scores are pretty good but I think your extracurricular activities are a little weak. I would say it depends a lot on your essay.

Yes, you can get into a good college. However, if good=Ivy for Your Highness, then that could be difficult. It is for everyone that applies to those schools. Broaden your scope; there are plenty of good universities outside of the Ivies.
