Got great mid year grades, including a 100% in a college Astronomy course

So do you think I stand a chance at getting in with my academic stats (class rank & act)? I am trying not to get too hopeful…I just love Brown! My class rank is due to a bad freshman year when I didn’t really care and I got mostly B’s…but I have had consistent improvement ever since and straight A’s since sophomore year.

Thanks!

How was your interview?

The interview went really well, I believe. I think my interviewer liked me and we had a pretty good conversation…lasted a little over an hour.

I am glad the interview went well and you have reason to stay optimistic.

We just have to be patient. Don’t we? Good luck!

To answer your question, yes you CAN get into Brown with a 26 ACT. Will it be easy? No. But there is a chance. There was a student from the 2013 Decision thread who was actually admitted with a 26 ACT, so there is hope. I’m actually in the same boat, I have the same ACT score with a 10 on my essay, hopefully I can get in still. You still have shot, just don’t give up.

andlove: did you apply ED as well?

I hate this anticipation! I would love to go to Brown :)

No, I applied RD for financial reasons.

and you got in… which makes me all the more hopeful for my chances of admission to Brown.

@popcharlie93 She is either lying or an exceptional case. The lowest athlete ACT score quartile starts at a 27.

@Precursor, You may be right, but it still gives me hope. I’m a URM with a 29 and a 31 superscore.

Wow…its surreal looking back on this!

@precursor: why would I lie?
@popcharlie93: don’t stress out about your scores. Brown looks at all aspects of your application. And a 31 is definitely within the average. Why are you worried?

And I didn’t get in this time around, actually. I was rejected in the spring of my senior year, and then actually decided to take a gap year to spend some time doing the things I love - and it was the best decision I ever made. I re-applied ED last fall during my gap year and was accepted.

That’s so wonderful to hear. Yeah, it seems as though most people on here think that you can’t get a ticket into Brown without a 34. Surely, it isn’t the only thing they look at.

I’m worried simply because I took it three times: 26, 29, 29. Brown “apparently” superscores your ACT, but I don’t think they redo the average. In any case, it would be a 31, but my subscores are only E: 34, R: 32, M & S: 28. I’m an intended Theatre Arts & Biology concentrator.

Thank you for the hope! lol
