The only way to find out for sure is to apply.

Your ACT is a little low for Brown but they take many factors into account. On the EC front, you’ll be competing against many applicants who have similar activities, so it becomes a question of what you put in and what you got out of these experiences. Awards or leadership positions are a good sign.

Your ACT score is your biggest issue right now. I think sometimes the value of good scores is undervalued on CC, but scores are incredibly important. Holistic admissions does not mean you should overlook standardized tests.

You can check out the ACT subforum on CC for some good information.

Brown accepts more legacies than an any other school, limiting the odds of an acceptance even more.

My own son was waitlisted and did not come off. Stats- ACT 34, valedictorian, 4.0 unweighted GPA, 13 AP’s and one college class, He was a great candidate and had an incredible alumni interview. There are many similar candidates so the competition is great.

Do you have any hooks- URM? Not from the Northeast? Etc… This will increase your chances.

Make sure to apply to more matches and safties too.

I know connections are important but my parents actually went to college in Europe (they are from there). I am first generation American. I don’t if this helps or hinders me, will this be appreciated as diversity?
