My school is a relatively competitive public school.
Right now, I am enrolled in IB Diploma Program (gr. 11-12).
However, my G.P.A is not that great…

Grade 9: 3.6
Grade 10:3.4
Grade 11: 3.5 (I got Bs on both IB physics HL and IB Chemistry HL… :(/ but I got A in IB English HL)

I am taking IB Chemistry SL and Physics HL in grade 12.

I am planning on studying engineering, or something related.
Do you think I can get into either Carnegie Mellon or Cornell for early decision? If not, any other choice?

Acceptance Rates for Class Entering in Fall 2009

Overall Acceptance Rate (Early Decision Rate)
Cornell - 19% (37%)
CMU - 32% (24%)

very good chance for either

i think your gpa is pretty low. i also wouldn’t bother retaking your SAT II, as it’s still a strong score.

Given the OP’s stats and with that 37% ED acceptance rate, it is hard not to apply to Cornell for ED and CMU for RD.
