Can I Get Into NYU Journalism & Nursing?

Can I get into NYU Journalism & Nursing(I plan to double major) with only 2 years of foreign language and no advanced math classes? Im currently a sophomore with a 3.8 weighted gpa taking my first 2 ap classes this year I plan to take a lot of ap history and social studies classes and ap biology.

I’m pretty sure it would be nearly impossible to complete those two degrees at the same time. Nursing is in its own school and doing a cross school double major is complicated as it is. Then, you’d have to take into account things like clinicals etc. I’d say pick one or the other or do like a journalism and bio double major?

I agree with kduck13, and you wont be completely disqualfiied if you only have 2 years of FL, and no advanced classes.Continue to maintain a high GPA and do well on SAT/ACT. You will probably be fine

To begin with:

[General Requirements » Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University](Program Requirements - NYU Journalism)

Since Nursing is in its own college and not part of CAS, it doesn’t fulfill this requirement. And it doesn’t look like Nursing gives you much room to double major either: http://www.nyu.edu/nursing/academicprograms/bachelors/FourYearandTransferStudentBSCurriculum.pdf

Your best best is to double major in Journalism and something in CAS like Bio. The journalism major is designed to allow you to double major within CAS anyway.

Note also that you can only apply to CAS or the College of Nursing, not both.

My two cents: both Journalism and Nursing are career-oriented, vocational majors. You can be a journalist or a nurse, but I can’t imagine equally being both at the same time. Pick one and stick with it. If you want to be a journalist writing about health, find a department that covers the aspect of health you’re interested in (which could be bio, chem, psych, sociology, etc.). If you want to be a nurse, be a nurse.
