Can I get into NYU with these scores?

Hi.

I’m currently a junior and I want to go to NYU for college. The thing is I have a 3.3 unweighted GPA however my SAT is above 2000. If I apply ED what are the chances of me getting accepted. Should I take subject tests? I plan on being in the Dental field if that helps any.

Thanks.

I wouldn’t count on nyu with these scores. Run the net price calculator and see how much it’d cost your parents. Unless you can be full pay and don’t mind getting into LSP or such, you should focus on other colleges. If you’re interested in NYC, look into Fordham Lincoln center, pace, CCNY or hunter. Not too far from NYC you have Marist, new paltz, Siena… You’d have a definite shot at these three!

NYU is a reach no matter what your scores are. Work to get both a higher GPA and a higher SAT score. I don’t know off the top of my head any SAT Subject Test requirements for NYU, but focus on possibly taking Math Level 2 and Biology subject tests, if you’re interested in dentistry.

Look into USciences in Philadelphia - it’s urban, like NYU, located in a student neighborhood, like NYU, it’s have good science programs, but it’s easier to get into than NYU.

Focus on NYU and apply ED. 3.3 UW is not that unrealistic, and if you have taken challenging classes than that will make up for your low GPA. I have no clue about Dentistry school or how much harder it is to get into, but a 2000 is probably about average for NYU CAS. As long as NYU is not a financial burden to you, give it a shot if its your dream school. I would look up what SAT 2’s dentistry students have to take.

No chance for an unhooked applicant at NYU with a 3.3.
