Can I get into Penn without Calc or Stat?

Hi! I’m looking to go to UPenn, but while I’ve gotten As in Algebra I, Geometry, & Algebra II, I want to stop at Pre-Calc for my senior year. I’m great at History & English. I aced AP US History in sophomore year, and garnered a 790 on the SAT II. I’m taking AP European History this year as well as AP English Comp. Next year, I’ll be taking AP Gov, AP Art History, & AP Lit. I’m an editor for my school newspaper and have had a principle role in my school play for the past three years. I’m looking to be a double History-English major at Penn. Will not having Calc or Stat seriously hurt my chances of getting into Penn? I’m worried! Help! Also: I’m a Philadelphia resident, not sure if a quota comes into play that would benefit me.

They will tell you that they want to see you challenge yourself in the context of where you are. If your school offers calc and you don’t take it, you decided not to challenge yourself. But that is just a single area so it may not be too consequential considering your desired major.

It depends on which school you plan on applying to. If you’re planning on applying to CAS and your major is non sci/math-related, then you should probably be fine as long as you compensate academically in other areas. If you’re planning on applying to SEAS or Wharton, however, I would highly recommend you take calc (I don’t think they really care about stats that much tbh, since a lot of schools don’t even have it).

@OP: Can ya? Of course. I did not take any math and science senior year of high school, not even CAL or Stat. I stopped after PCal.
However, I told them in my essay I wanted to do something with humanities, though that has changed. I’m in the College btw
