can i get into psu and Umass amherst

I have a 3.6 GPA and a sat composite score of 1400 but my sat essay score is only a 16. I barely have any E.Cs, will I be able to get into PSU or Umass

What major?

Computer science

And if I can’t pls tell me how I might be able to because I am just entering senior year.

And purdue

What is your state of residence?

I live in India but I am a resident of Texas

and I also think I can reach a sat score of about 1450

If you live in India, you can’t be a resident of Texas. A resident of Texas is someone who lives in Texas. If you are a citizen of India who lives in Texas, you’d be considered instate in Texas but would be an international for UMass or Penn state. These distinctions are important.
What AP’s have you taken?
Is that 3.6 weighted or unweighted?

I am going to take computer science principles and computer science A
The 3.6 is unweighted

Can you answer the citizenship/residency question?
Will you have taken Calculus by the time you graduate?

I live in India, but I was born in Texas.
yes I would have taken calculus by the time I graduate.
Are you trying to ask me to take ap calculus after I apply to colleges but still put in on my application?

Do I stand a good chance in these three universities?

If you were born in Texas and live in India, you’re a us citizen who is not a resident of any state.
That actually helps and is better than the reverse for the universities you’re considering.
No you don’t need AP calculus as long as you have calculus.
You have a good shot at psu as long as you apply by Nov 30.
CS at UMass is highly selective so probably a reach.

How can I become a good candidate in umass cs

And if I have a GPA of 4 and a sat composite score of 1450 how will I fair?

You have a good shot but if you have a 3.6 GPA by definition you cannot have a 4.0. Your GPA is your GPA. You can’t change it and only grades 9-11 are considered.
Also, I assume you won’t need financial aid, since neither university will provide you any (beside the basic federal loans, ie., $5,500 for freshman year).

I think you can get into Umass if you are in-state.

Are there any way I can get a better chance to get into these universities
