Hi, I was just wondering at my chances of getting into Purdue University in Indiana?
I know that admission to Purdue is generally easier than many other colleges, but I’m not entirely sure if I’d be able to get in?
I have a 3.5 unweighted and 4.0 weighted GPA up to 11th grade (I’m entering 12th grade this year). I took 1 AP in 10th grade, 3 APs / 2 Honors classes in 11th grade, with a mix of As and Bs… However, I can partially explain my lower grades in this year because of a medical condition I have - I suffer from Graves Disease, which can cause fatigue (at least, that’s my main symptom). This affected me a lot throughout junior year, as I couldn’t focus in class, and often fell asleep, meaning I had to go through the trouble of relearning everything at home
I know I could’ve handled my time and health better, but it is what it is. I just hope I can make up for it…
My extracurriculars are mostly music-related - I played the cello in the Sacramento Youth Symphony for 3 years, and in our local university’s UC Davis Symphony for 1 year (the 2nd semester in 3rd seat, which is “endowed”). I’ve also participated in a quartet for four years for community service, played in our school music program for eight years, and performed in a music festival at Carnegie in New York with our high school symphony (as 3rd chair). I was also the president of our school’s “Young Musician’s Outreach Club” for a year in 11th grade.
Other than that, I’m involved in the CSF Volunteering program at our school, and regularly volunteer at our town’s library and my church.
My SAT score is pretty good - my highest individual test score is 2270 (780 in Math, 790 in Reading, 700 in Writing), and my masterscore is 2300 (with a 730 instead of 700 for Writing).
I haven’t taken my SAT Subject tests yet (I’m doing them in 4 weeks), but I’m planning to take Biology/Ecology, and Math Level 2.
I’m not entirely sure what I’d want to major in - I know Purdue’s best programs are in engineering, education, and economics, but would I be able to get in as an ‘undecided major’, and pick a major later on?
Thank you for any help
