Hi, I am trying to see what my chances are to get into Stanford graduate program, construction management to be precise.
Got my civil engineering degree 5 yrs ago from one of the top 5 undergraduate civil engineering schools. GPA: 3.2
Took my GRE when I was junior. Math was close to perfect and verbal was around 700 with essay 4.0.
Work experience at one of the largest engineering companies in US and participated in projects that range from 150 MM to 24 billion dollars (USD).
I did not participate in research and never was interested in it. So, the main reason I am wanting to go to Stanford is to take classes and get a degree from the top US school. Funding/Scholarship would be nice but I would not mind if I am unfunded.
Thank you!
First of all, your GRE has expired and you will need to take it again. Second, the fact that you are not interested in research means that you will likely be in a professionally-oriented program which is pretty much always self-funded. Finally, your GRE will probably be very competitive but your college GPA is probably not as high as other applicants. Since Stanford is highly selective, there is no guarantee that you will be admitted. If your goal is to get a degree from Stanford and nowhere else, then you have to give it a try. However, if you are more interested in getting the degree for the purposes of career advancement, you might consider applying to some other schools too, including an absolute safety.
