When the summer of 2012 is over, this is what I’ll have:
Swimming
Water Polo
I’ve been recognized as a scholarly African-American by the Ohio State University
I’m on the yearbook staff
I’m on the literary magazine, BARE
I’m in German Club
I work as a lifeguard in the summer
I’ve taken the PLAN (practice ACT) and from that, my projected ACT score was a 32
I’m taking the SAT and ACT within the next two months, but I plan to focus on the ACT and I will take the writing portion
My cumulative GPA after soph. year was a 2.8, but I got a 3.6 first quarter of this year, and second quarter (this quarter) I’ll get a 4.1, so my cumulative will go up
I’ll have 100+ service hours
I’m going to the NYLF on Law and CSI (It’s a select camp in Washington, D.C. where select students go to a camp and can get college credit)
I volunteer for the Special Olympics every summer

What are my chances of getting into the following colleges in order of (most likely to least likely)?
the Ohio State University
Miami University (Oxford)
Oregon State University
University of Washington
University of Tennessee

What would help me even more in getting into these colleges and getting scholarship money? Thanks!

Scholarships for out of state students? No.
The we reason we taken in out of state students is for their money

Also is your GPA unweighted or weighted? You mention a 2.8 which is super low unweighted or not…but then you mention a 4.1 which is definitely weighted… either way UW doesn’t look at weighted gpa, only unweighted. And since you haven’t actually achieved that grade yet, we can’t really take it into consideration.
Your extracurricular activities are excellent, so you have that to help you out with.

Are you of a religious denomination? Have you considered attending one of the fine private Universities in your state? If you’re Catholic you can go to Xavier University (one of the best names for a U, if you ask this guy!!), Ohio Dominican or U of Dayton. There’s also Ohio Wesleyan University if you’re a Methodist.

Do you plan on remaining in Ohio after you graduate?

Well a lot of those religious denominations are proactive in trying to recruit minorities.

If I were you I would try to get into the best school I could in Ohio, the best in Ohio is Miami University, no? Then maybe Ohio State? I know that for purposes of classification of determination of outcomes that Miami University (of Ohio) is often grouped in with the top 50 LAC.
