Can I get into UNC, Emory, and/or Vanderbilt?

Hey, I’m Alli. I’m going to be a Senior next year. I’m from NY.

I will most likely do Pre-Law, but I’m also considering Graphic Design and Journalism.

Here are my stats:

Ethnicity: Caucasian
Religion: Jewish
GPA (unweighted): around 97.6ish (it was 98.2 before junior year)
GPA (weighted): as of sophmore year it was 103.2

Class Rank: I was number 3 last year, but I probably dropped somewhere in the top 5, we don’t officially do rankings anymore though…
Class Size: not sure, but large

AP Classes: World History (4), Physics, US History, English Language, but I also took Pre-Calc Honors (the second half of the year is the first half of Calc AB)
Planned Senior AP Classes: AP Calculus AB, AP Economic (Macro & Micro), AP Bio, AP Government, AP Spanish, AP British Literature
Honors: all my classes were honors in junior year, in sophmore year I took all available

I’ve only taken the SATs once so far. I plan to take it again in October.

SAT I Math: 670
SAT I Critical Reading: 620
SAT I Writing: 650 (11 essay)
SAT Composite: 1940, 1290

SAT II World History: 610
SAT II US History: 680
SAT II Physics: 610

Probably taking the ACT in Sept

Hoping to volunteer in the hospital this summer if I can contact them again
I’ve had a job in CVS from 11th (summer) and I will still have it by the time I graduate
I’ve been a CIT or Camp Counselor from the summer of 9th grade until the summer of 11th grade

Some other colleges I will apply to are:
University of Miami - how much money do you think I can get from here? can I consider it my safe school?
George Mason
Duke (It’s a HUGE stretch due to SAT scores, but it’s my dream school)

I’m very lost with making a decision for college because since I was little I always wanted to go to Ivy League. However, my SAT scores are screwing up that option. What other suggestions would you have. Please help.

yeah your SAT scores are the only thing screwing you right now. everything else looks good (courseload, rank, EC’s, leadership etc).
i would say if you got that SAT over 2100 (which you can), you could get into all 3 of the schools in your title. right now though, they’re all semi-reaches, especially if you’re out of state for UNC. good luck though.

thanks so much, i decided im going to study a lot for the SATs & ACTs over the summer, but yeahh i seriously suck on standardized tests but do well on the ridiculously hard in class exams…

I’m planning to go to either UNC, Vanderbilt, Emory (if I get money), if I don’t (most likely) I’ll probably end up going to something like university of Miami because I’m sure I’d get a lot more money there, I’m gonna have to take out a lot of loans, so I’ll probably just wait to aim for Ivy League for law school

could someone please recommend other schools that would be in my range if i get my sat score up to a 1350 (which i think is very likely) and then if i get it to a 1400 (if i work ridiculously hard)?

also, for these schools, will my SAT IIs matter that much?

I’ll probably double major with Graphic Design & a Pre-Law program

Honestly, if you didnt raise your SAT 150 or so points, I wouldnt be surprised if you didnt get into any of them. UNC OOS is especially ridiculous.

is that 150 points out of 2400 or 1600?

also, would it help that my cousin went to grad school at Vanderbilt?

Cousins dont help, sorry. a 2040 or so should put you in better standing IMO.
