I got accepted to this Uni and listed that I was 1st gen student. However, after some research, I found out I wasn’t(my parents went to college outside of US). Can I get rescinded? Can they even find this out?

i doubt it but I’m not sure

If you call them up and tell them this, you won’t. They will realize you made a mistake on an extremely minor part of the application and appreciate your honesty.
If you don’t, and they find out on their own, they might take it as dishonesty, and be much more likely to rescind your app. The chances of them actually looking into this and figuring it out are close to zero, but I would call them anyways.

Leave it alone. I doubt it mattered at all and you’re already in.

Isn’t first generation status quite an important factor in admissions?
Anyways, it’s a pretty precarious situation. Either option you choose will put you at some risk.

Someone with 306 posts on cc would not make this mistake. Your prior posts show painstaking attention to detail. I cannot believe you would not know your parents’ educational background. You will probably get away with this dishonesty.

Also you posted about this back on 10/25/08. You had plenty of time to correct this.

What did you put down as their professions? They couldn’t be research scientist without college degree. If you list your parents having professional jobs, then the first generation wasn’t that much of factor on your acceptance. First generation and underprivileged make a difference to adcom, but not if your parents are doing well financially.

Due to the economy down turn, anyone that could pay full fare would be a bigger hook.
