<p>Of course waivers are not meant to be ‘passed around’ to whoever you think needs it. It’s likely that your friend would not be able to use yours and it’s possible you could get in trouble if he tries. If he refuses to ask for a waiver himself, there’s nothing you can or should do.</p>
<p>The college board used to give schools any amount of fee waivers that they requested. Now the college board gives fee waivers based on the number of fee waivers actually used by the school in the previous year. Your school’s 2011-2012 allocation will be based on the number of fee waivers used this year.</p>
<p>GC’s now more than ever are tracking the fee waivers that they give out to students and who they give them to. Wasting fee waivers, puts the school at risk of getting less fee waivers in the next school year.</p>
<p>Since you are not authorized by your school to give out fee waivers, your giving your fee waiver away can not only put you at risk to be ineligible for future fee waivers at your school. IF you have misappropriately used the fee waiver you give your GC something negative to write about your character when it comes down to doing your evaluation for college because you did the wrong thing. Your school could also charge you with a disciplinary infraction anywhere from detention to suspension.</p>
<p>If on the off chance you need SATII fee waivers or college application fee waivers I would not be so quick to burn any bridges.</p>
<p>IF your friend is fee waiver eligible (even if he is not fee waiver eligible and has some hardship), he is doing himself and his fellow students a disservice by not seeing the GC getting the fee waivers that he needs.</p>
<p>Technically, yes you can give your SAT fee waiver to your friend since all he needs to do is put in the code at the collegeboard site. However, there could be a few ramifications as in trouble with your GC if you do, as entomom suggests. Nothing you’d get suspended/expelled probably but keep in mind you only get 1 or 2 SAT fee waivers in a year, you will need to pay out of pocket if you want to take the test again.</p>
<p>Each GC also has to fill out a card and have it for record purposes, your name, address, reason, and school are on that card along with the Fee waiver code. It’s very possible that CollegeBoard or even your counselor can double check the fee waiver code to see who used it and matches correctly the details on this card. Passing the code on to your friend and if you get caught can be seen as misuse of the fee waiver system.</p>
<p>Ultimately it’s your decision however keep in mind collegeboard is also behind the CSS profile and you don’t want to be in bad standing with the company that could determine your financial standing for some colleges.</p>

<p>Actually, Op can get an in school/principal’s suspension (at the discretion of the school) because the fee waiver, does not “belong” to the OP, it belongs to the school and Op will have misused school property. The school can also choose that Op would not be able to receive any fee waivers in the future for the misuse of the fee waiver.</p>
<p>If you no longer “need” the fee waiver, return it to the counselor.</p>
