Can I make a PDF smaller somehow?

The high school my son is applying to requires us to upload a PDF of his last 2 report cards, and his most recent standardized test scores to the website. His GC sent a copy of the document, and added in a couple of other things that we didn’t request, but which I’m fine with sending (e.g. his sixth grade standardized scores). However, when I went to upload it I got an error message saying the file was rejected because it was too large.

Is there a way I can shrink the file, perhaps by making it lower resolution, or by cutting out the unnecessary pages? I guess I could print the file, take out the extra pages, and then scan the other pages, but I wonder if there’s a better way of doing it.

Thanks!

“Printing” the file to a new PDF is the first thing I’d try.

If you have a mac, this is easy though how you do it depends on your version the OS.
Using an older version, like Snow Leopard:

Open the pdf in Preview

Save As

Select “Reduce File Size” from the Quartz filter drop down (towards the bottom of the window).

If you’re using a more up-to-date version like Lion, you open the pdf and then go to “Export” under the File menu and again select “Reduce File Size” from the Quartz filter drop down.
