Do you think I can make it into NCSSM? I’m a NC resident from district 4 (Apex). My SAT score was a 1750. My GPA 4.375 I generally get all A’s. I have taken up to Algebra II honors and for math, Chemistry Honors for science.
As for my activities:
Violin, Persain language and culture school, town volleyball soccer and softball, Kramden inc. computer refurbishing for needy, Key club, Debate club, math club, film club, SADD(students against destructive decisions) club, Library volunteer (weekly), babysitting siblings, care packages for soldiers, Book sale volunteer, NC Green power volunteer, Child library activties, High school track, STEM (creating video game challenge), Do Something National Scavenger hunt.
At home I do alot of gardening and farm work, and my parents work at their jobs alot and we dont have alot of money so Im at a bit disadvantage and havent been able to do as much as other applicants, such as math camps, summer school etc.
What do you think?

SAT is kind of low, I think that is the killer but the EC’s you have and the GPA maybe able to make up for it…

District 4 is the tough one, I think, as it is local to the school and as such recieves the most applicants. I think your district, then Guilford and Mecklenburg county area are the toughest.

You should have a fair shot. While many get rejected…some DO get in, of course!

T

1750 is not enough for CD4, not even by a longshot. Aim for 1900+ to have a decent chance, and even that is low by CD4 standards. Average CD4 is 2100+.

I’d agree that your SAT is a bit low, but it wouldn’t be impossible to get in with. How do you think you did on the Discovery Day tests? I think those hold more weight than your SAT, honestly.

Did you have any leadership positions in your clubs, etc? Those also would be good!

Best of luck to you!

So what do you guys think? good chance? Bad Chance?

Extracurriculars/service is very good. GPA is ok, but considering that you’re rank 1 at your school (what school is that?), that’s good. SAT puts you at a slight disadvantage, but since everything else is quite nice, you have a pretty good chance.

School is Wake Early College of Health and Sciences, and the reason the GPA is low cause my school offers college courses, but since the transcripts differ, I have two transcripts, one for my college courses and one for my high school courses. The GPA stays low when you combine the two though, cause they dont transfer. ALSO my GPA will go up to 4.8888 at the end of this year.
