You sound like a strong applicant to me.

You seem very interesting! An athletic jeweler from Wyoming with math talent and an interest in writing and art- a real renaissance man! And an excellent student to boot. You look very strong. What do you think you’ll want to focus on academically? (not that you need to know that, yet)

im interested in medicine (but not practicing it) so probably mathematics of medicine. That way i can stay in an area that im good at while exploring new things. Plus im probably going to take some art classes in college (if possible.)

The Claremont colleges would be a great place to be with those interests.
You could take classes at Pomona and Harvey-Mudd for math and art courses at Scripps.

that would be awesome. how time consuming would transportation be between them?

About the amount of time needed to cross the street!
From south campus (of Pomona), it could take about 10-15 minutes to get to Harvey Mudd depending on how fast or slowly you walk.

I agree that you are a very strong candidate, especially given your geographical locale and that your HS rarely sends students to competitive colleges. Your SAT scores confirm that you are academically competitive with your peers across the country.

Good luck!

sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. thanks guys.

One of the cool parts of the Claremont Consortium is that the schools really ARE located next door to one another. We have visited other places where transportation IS involved, whether it’s a shuttle bus, car or a couple miles’ walk. At Claremont, the only thing you need is a skateboard (or unicycle, if you’re a Mudder) to get from one college to the other.

thats sounds really awesome. so how does tuition and junk get tied into all this?

Your own school tuition covers any class you take at another college in the consortium.

The Consortium is the best resource that any one of the Claremont Colleges has to offer. You might also be interested in looking at Harvey Mudd College.

i’m pretty sure this OP already knows about HMC (check previous posts).

i think he/she is looking for information specifically with regards to Pomona.

ok ASAP, thats good news.
and yeah rocketDA’s knows me by now.
