For a brief overview:
I have a 98.92 average, pretty good extracurriculars with my main one being the nonprofit/youth led organization I’m
Apart of, still working on my sat but I’m
Aiming for the high 1400s by the September test date, I’ve been in all honors since freshman year, took 3 aps junior year, and I’m going to take 4 aps in this upcoming year ( senior year) , and I’m an athlete.
I didn’t do good on my aps this year, the only one maybe worth sending is the 3 I got on ap lang
I just wanted to know if not sending ap scores will hurt my application a lot, and if it’s necessary for college admissions.
They’ll do admissions based on your circumstances. If you grew up fgli and did not have access to things such as study resources then a 1400 looks good and even the fact you took APs is good.
I think there are a few schools that require all test scores, but most schools do not. Not sending scores shouldn’t hurt you too much - for all the schools know, you may not have even taken the tests
(*Unless the school specifically requires all test scores you’ve received, in which case you must submit them, but that is not often the case.)
This is what I was primarily thinking of, although thought perhaps they might also require require all AP scores as well. Not sure. Always best to double check.
I think in many cases AP scores do not matter. However, I have now repeatedly heard that in some cases, some AOs, for some colleges, might look for high APs as validation of high grades. And this is particularly likely to happen if they have reason to believe a lot of kids at a given high school are getting As in their AP classes, but then mostly 1-3 grades on their APs, which is potentially indicative of a significant grade inflation issue.
So that’s a lot of ifs! But I do think it could sometimes be an issue to take a bunch of APs and not submit. And sometimes not.
I agree with that view. However, that’s different from requiring score submissions (which I interpret as - the application is incomplete without them). In the situation you describe, missing scores might lead the AO to assume the scores are low and evaluate the application accordingly.
As others have previously mentioned, you don’t need to send your AP scores. They’re not required.
If you want your future university to give you credit for a class, then that’s when you use your scores. It does look good on your transcript when you show that you took an AP course because the universities know that these are tougher courses. It shows rigor.
(Just trying to help and not to nitpick but please begin to monitor your writing. It’ll make a difference in any future tests that you plan to take like an SAT.
I am a former educator so when I see the word “apart” written the way you’ve written it here, I need to define it for you.
The word “apart” means to divide or to separate.
I think you meant to say that you are “a part”of a nonprofit.)
Don’t forget that all of these universities will view and have essay requirements. The top schools expect top writing. I know this is a website and it really doesnt matter in the grammar used here, but it helps you get in the habit of doing it for your college courses.
