If I have a good essay, say, about one of my EC’s that I see can be completely reused for another college, can I just copy-paste it or do I have to necessarily modify it? To what extent can be the essays to different colleges similar?
To be specific, I have the essay about extracurricular to one of my reach and dream schools, so I spent enormous amount of time on it. And my safety school asks the question which can be completely answered with this essay, even the word count fits.
Does not sound like an issue in your case. If the prompts are in essence the same or “open” to write whatever you want, sure recycle the essay. Where this is not optimal is if the essay is specific to a school and you try to apply it to another school that does not share or value the same traits, especially if the second school is also selective.

It’s very common to reuse but some student’s don’t change the name of the current school and are rejected. Use the theme but change it to the culture of the school. Each schools are different so it also has to make sense per each school
