The Problem:
So, I got a D+ in AP Chem for first semester senior year. My GPA ended up being 2.66 unweighted, and 2.8 weighted. (I got a job, AP chem is hard, and a classmate died right before 1st semester finals – these are mainly what made things hectic + senioritis).
My GPA for soph/junior year was ~3.8 weighted.

I was accepted to UC Irvine on March 2nd, well after I knew I had gotten a D. My friend had the same situation and notified UCI and UCSC sometime in January or so after 1st semester grades. She didn’t get into UCI, but she made it into UCSC which kept the D in mind.

The Current Situation:
Now I have a B- in AP Chem, but we’re having quizzes about first semester stuff, so hopefully I can maintain a decent C… Hopefully I can pull a B or so for the rest of the year. I used the message center to notify UCI of this shortly after receiving my 3rd quarter grade (80.0% B-, 3.33 unw GPA, 3.6 weighted GPA). I then waited two weeks until calling because the counselor never replied (the site said it may take up to two weeks for a counselor to reply…).

When I called UCI admissions, I was connected to a young lady who said it’s probably fine and I did the right thing notifying and such, and then I asked about if I am allowed to SIR to UCSC for a “back-up” because final decisions are made after final grades after graduating. She said she wasn’t sure but it’s probably fine as long as I check in with that school, too.

After doing a little research and asking around, apparently you can’t SIR to more than one UC. Before I asked Irvine about my situation, I contacted Cal Poly SLO’s admissions which said I will still be accepted to SLO even though I received a D+, and now that I have a B it seems like I have things “under control.”

The Big Question:
Am I allowed to do a SIR to Irvine AND Cal Poly SLO? Or is that going to like mess up things (even more)? I don’t want to have to end up going to a community college after being a decent student all these other years >_>

I did the SIR to UCI on 4/20 (much later than after I got accepted), and money really isn’t an issue about the whole $100 thing for SIRs.
