Hello, I am currently taking Eng 3 AP, which was one of my worst desicions in High School.

I have only gotten 2 B’s previously in mostly Pre-AP but now I have a C in AP english. I feel horrible, like I let my parents down. They moved here from Argintina looking for a better life an they always tell me this, but now I probably wont be able to get into a good school.

Some schools I am looking at are
Northeastern
Rice (won’t get in)
University of Texas - Austin
Texas Tech
TAMU
University of Houston

I am probably top 20% or maybe top 15% of my class, and I have mediocre SAT scores for my first time (1750). I am in National Honor scociety, National Technical honor scociety, HOSA, Student council, as well as Spanish Club. I also have over 50 volenteer hours for High school.

Yep, you’re gone, finished, never to get in … except for about 95% of the good colleges in the US. A C is not great but it is not going to kill you. From your list, I assume you are from Texas. What I do not know is whether you are US citizen (or permanent resident) in which case your chances at any Texas public university are somewhat better than if you are an international. However, you appear to be on track for having a very good chance of admisson to TAMU, Tex Tech, and Houston even if you get that C. Texas is more iffy because of class rank – you are not in the top 10% which is automatic admission for a Texas resident to any Texas public university and the UTexas problem is that far more apply to it with that status than the other Texas public colleges, meaning without that status it is tougher to get in. Rice even you recognize as a reach at this point. Northeastern is borderline reach. Since the C seems now unadvoidable, don’t fret about it and work on getting good grades next semester and possibly raising the SAT score.

College confidential gives you an incredibly warped view of colleges. Like drusba said, at an incredibly vast majority of colleges in the country a single C will never break your chances.
