Both Ds are in my IB/AP classes. My SAT is 1200 and my GPA is pretty low at 3.14 unweighted. Do I still have a chance at schools like UIC, Loyola, etc?
Yes, I’d say that you have a good chance at those two schools. They will understand that the Ds came in challenging classes, and your GPA isn’t that low, especially for UIC and Loyola. If you were applying to UIUC, yes, that would be a deal-breaker.
Run the NPC on all your colleges and apply to a few more especially in nearby states. Perhaps include SIU Carbondale or Edwardsville just in case.
All in all your level of rigor will be appreciated by UIC so you’re probably ok there but try to think about why you ended up Ds since these classes are similar to what you’ll find in college and you want to fix the problem before you get there.
